How should I take Accucheck Advantage Monitor (glucose monitor)?

Monitoring your blood sugar is one of the most important elements of managing your diabetes. This blood glucose meter is proven to provide virtually painless testing. This easy-to-operate monitor with auto-start functions features an easy-to-read display and offers laboratory-accurate results. Prepare your monitor: Remove a test strip from the vial, be sure to cap the vial tightly after removing the test strip. Make sure that the reaction window is yellow. Prepare the monitor: Within 30 seconds insert the test strip (yellow reaction window facing up) into the test strip slot. Make sure that the lot number on the test strip matches with that on the monitor. When the bloo drop symbol flashes, you are ready to perform the test. Prepare the lancing device, rotate the comfort dial to set the penetration depth (1-5). For thin skin select a lower number, for thick or callused skin select a higher number. Pull off the cap from the lancing device. Insert a new lancet into the slot, push it in until it clicks. Remove the protective cap with a twisting movement, save the cap and replace it on the lancet before discarding. Press the priming button on lancing device until it clicks. The lancing device is primed when the yellow dot in the priming window appears. Before pricking, wash your hand in warm water, dry thoroughly and massage you finger to warm it and to ensure that you get a sufficient drop of blood to be tested. Gently press the lancing device against a fingertip or earlobe and press the release button. Wait a few seconds for a drop of blood to form, if a drop does not form gently massage the finger until a drop forms. Touch and hold the drop of blood to the yellow edge of the strip. The blood will be drawn automatically by capillary action and the yellow reaction window will completely fill with blood. Results appear in approximately 30 seconds! If you have any questions or for more information contact your health care provider or your pharmacist.
