What is Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) used for? |
Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) is designed for use in hormone replacement therapy and to relieve the symptoms of menopause, prevent osteoporosis and vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women.

When should Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) not be taken?
|
Do not take Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) if you are allergic to Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) or to any ingredient present in Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate), if you have known or suspected breast cancer, any other cancer stimulated by estrogen, or a past history of breast cancer associated with estrogen use, unexplained genital bleeding, history of blood clots or phlebitis, sensitivity to estrogen or progesterone, or if you have any reason to believe that you are pregnant |
What precautions should I follow when taking Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) ?

Before using Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking any herbal products, if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment, heart ot lung problem |

Most severe: Skin reddening, urinary tract infection, vaginal inflammation, vomiting

Most common: Abdominal pain, breast tenderness and enlargement, depression, enlargement of uterine fibroids, headache, nausea, nervousness

How should I take Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Activella (estradiol/norethindrone acetate). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Because of the risk of uterine cancer, be sure to alert your doctor if you experience any abnormal vaginal bleeding. Take one tablet at the same time each day, with or without food. If you are taking the medication to relieve menopausal symptoms, your doctor will reevaluate your need for medication every 3 to 6 months.
