Albatussin (not available in Canada) is a cough suppressant/antihistamine/ decongestant combination used for the relief of cough due to the common cold, asthma, or bronchitis.

Do not take Albatussin (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to Albatussin (not available in Canada) or to any ingredient present in Albatussin (not available in Canada).

Before using Albatussin (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine like MAO inhibitors used currently or stopped within the last 2 weeks (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Also report the use of drugs that cause drowsiness such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, other antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine), if you are taking any herbal products, if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment, heart ot lung problem, if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, thyroid disease, diabetes, glaucoma (narrow angle), prostate conditions, allergies (especially to tartrazine dye, or aspirin).

Albatussin (not available in Canada) may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using Albatussin (not available in Canada) in the elderly, since they may be more sensitive to medication side effects. Albatussin (not available in Canada) should not be used in newborns.

Other: Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, deep sleep, slowed breathing, irregular heartbeat, hot or cold skin, numbness or tingling in arms or legs, shaking, and seizures.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Albatussin (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Albatussin (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Albatussin (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Take Albatussin (not available in Canada) by mouth usually twice daily as needed, or as directed by your doctor. Shake this liquid well before each dose. Unless otherwise directed, drink plenty of fluids when you use Albatussin (not available in Canada). The fluid will help loosen phlegm/mucus in your breathing passages.

Store Albatussin (not available in Canada) in a dry place at room temperature between 59° - 86°F. Keep out of reach of children and pets
