Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) contains a combination of hormones that is used to prevent ovulation and pregnancy.

Do not take Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) if you are allergic to any component present in Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel). If you have liver disease or cirrhosis

Before using Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem

Birth control pills are in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that birth control pills will cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can have very serious negative effects on a developing baby. Do not take birth control pills if you are pregnant or if you think you might be pregnant.

Other: Depression, changes in weight or appetite, vaginal yeast infection, changes in your menstrual cycle, oily skin or acné, changes in your sex drive, lethargy or fatigue, bloating, changes in your skin color.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) must be used with other tuberculosis medications. Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) should be taken once every 24 hours. It may be taken with or without food. Monthly vision tests will be required while taking Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel). Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Alesse Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
