Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) is used to relieve seasonal allergy symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose/palate/throat, itchy/watery/red eyes, and nasal congestion.

When should Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) not be taken?
|
Do not take Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) if you are allergic to any ingredient of Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) or to similar medications you have narrow-angle glaucoma you have difficulty urinating you are currently taking or have taken monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the last 14 days you have severe heart disease you have severe high blood pressure |
What precautions should I follow when taking Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) ?

Before using Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have high blood pressure if you have heart disease if you have diabetes if you have increased pressure in the eye if you have an overactive thyroid gland if you have impaired kidney function if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland if you have any other medical conditions |

Use Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) with caution if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, increased pressure in the eyes, prostate problems, or hyperthyroidism. Stop using Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) and check with your doctor if it causes nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness. |
What are the side effects of Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine)?

Most severe: Pounding in the chest; allergic reaction (giant hives; rash; itching; tightness in the chest; difficulty breathing; flushing); hallucinations; seizures; irregular heartbeat; tremor.

Most common: Headache; nausea; sleeplessness; dry mouth; upset stomach; throat irritation; dizziness; nervousness.
|

Other: Agitation; back pain; upper respiratory tract infection; stomach pain; fear; anxiety; pale skin; painful urination; excitability; restlessness; weakness; sleep disorders.

How should I take Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the patient leaflet provided with Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) and reread it each time you get your prescription refilled. Take Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Swallow Tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew them. Do not take Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) with food. Stop taking Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) and contact your health care provider if nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occur. Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Diabetes patients -- Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) may affect your blood sugar level. Your doctor may need to change the amount of diabetes medicine you are taking. Stop taking MAO inhibitors at least 14 days before taking Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine). If you are uncertain whether your other medications contain an MAO inhibitor, check with your health care provider. Consult a doctor before giving Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) to children under 12 years of age. Do not stop taking Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine) without talking with your health care provider. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of Allegra D (fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine). If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your health care provider.
