What is Alomide (lodexamide) used for? |
Alomide (lodexamide) is used to treat certain types of eye inflammation such as vernal keratoconjunctivitis, giant papillary conjunctivitis, and allergic/atopic conjunctivitis.

Before using Alomide (lodexamide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Alomide (lodexamide)?

Remove your contact lenses to instill Alomide (lodexamide) and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting the lenses. |
What are the side effects of Alomide (lodexamide)?
|

Most severe: Ulcers or tearing of the cornea.
|
|
Most common: Burning; stinging; discomfort.
|
|
Other: Itching of the eye; blurred vision; dry eye; tearing; blood in eye; crystalline deposits in eye; foreign body sensation; headache; scales on the eyelid or lashes; eye pain; eye swelling; sensation of warmth in the eye; eye fatigue; eye inflammation; sticky sensation; dizziness; drowsiness; nausea; stomach discomfort; sneezing; dry nose; rash.

How should I take Alomide (lodexamide)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Alomide (lodexamide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Remove soft contact lenses before using Alomide (lodexamide). Alomide (lodexamide) may cause dizziness or drowsiness; patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Burning and stinging may occur when applying Alomide (lodexamide). If these symptoms continue, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Alomide (lodexamide) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Alomide (lodexamide). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Store Alomide (lodexamide) between 59 to 80 degrees F. Protect from direct heat and light. |
