Amnesteem (not available in Canada) is used to treat severe cystic acne (also called nodular acne) that has not responded to other therapy such as antibiotics.

Do not take Amnesteem (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Amnesteem (not available in Canada) or to similar medications.

Before using Amnesteem (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions.

Do not donate blood while taking Amnesteem (not available in Canada) and for 30 days after completion of treatment to avoid exposing pregnant women to Amnesteem (not available in Canada) through the donated blood. Do not share your prescription with anyone else due to the risk of birth defects and other serious adverse effects. You may experience a flare of acne during the initial treatment period.

Other: Difficulty concentrating, feel like you have no energy, feel unusually sad or have crying spells, feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt, increased irritability, anger, aggression or thoughts of violence, loss of interest in usual activities, sleep too much or have trouble sleeping, start to have thoughts about hurting yourself, withdraw from family or friends

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Amnesteem (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Amnesteem (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Amnesteem (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Swallow the capsules with a full glass of water to help prevent throat irritation. Do not chew or suck on the capsules. Do not take Amnesteem (not available in Canada) more often than directed. All females who may be able to have children: You will receive information concerning the risks of treatment with Amnesteem (not available in Canada). It is very important for you to read and understand all of the information provided to you. You must complete 2 consent forms and review materials that describe the precautions you must take. If you do not understand any part of the consent forms, do not sign them, and do not take Amnesteem (not available in Canada) until all of your questions have been answered. If you do not have the Medications Guide, a video, and a booklet about pregnancy prevention, do not start treatment with Amnesteem (not available in Canada). Call your prescriber. You will need to have 2 negative pregnancy tests before starting Amnesteem (not available in Canada) and then monthly pregnancy tests during treatment, even if you are not sexually active. You cannot get monthly refills for Amnesteem (not available in Canada) unless there is proof of the negative pregnancy test. Use 2 reliable forms of birth control together for 1 month prior to, during, and for 1 month after stopping treatment. Avoid using birth control pills that do not contain estrogen; they may not work while you are taking isotretinoin. If you become pregnant, miss a menstrual cycle, or stop using birth control, you must immediately stop taking isotretinoin. Severe birth defects may occur even if just one dose of Amnesteem (not available in Canada) is taken. Do not breast-feed your infant while taking isotretinoin or for 1 month after stopping treatment. All Males: You will also receive information concerning the risks of treatment with Amnesteem (not available in Canada). In addition, you should read the Medication guide and review all other information supplied. You will need to sign a consent form that indicates you understand the information and instructions.

Store Amnesteem (not available in Canada) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
