What is Anaprox (naproxen sodium) used for? |
Anaprox (naproxen sodium) is used to treat mild to moderate pain/inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Doctors may occasionally prescribe it for other reasons.

When should Anaprox (naproxen sodium) not be taken?

Do not take Anaprox (naproxen sodium) if you and/or your child are allergic to any ingredient in Anaprox (naproxen sodium) you and/or your child have experienced asthma, hives, runny nose, nasal polyps, or allergic reactions after taking similar medicines or aspirin |
What precautions should I follow when taking Anaprox (naproxen sodium) ?

Before using Anaprox (naproxen sodium), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you and/or your child are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you and/or your child have impaired kidney function if you and/or your child have impaired liver function if you and/or your child are taking water pills if you and/or your child have a history of fluid retention if you and/or your child have high blood pressure if you and/or your child have heart failure if you and/or your child smoke if you and/or your child have a history of peptic ulcer if you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol if you and/or your child have any other medical condition |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Anaprox (naproxen sodium)?

This medicne may cause severe or fatal peptic ulceration, gastrointestinal bleeding and intestinal perforation. To minimize untoward side effects, take Anaprox (naproxen sodium) with food or milk. |
What are the side effects of Anaprox (naproxen sodium)?

Most severe: Severe allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bleeding; stomach perforation; pounding in the chest; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Most common: Drowsiness; swelling of the legs and feet; dizziness; depression; constipation; heartburn; stomach pain; nausea; headache; itching; skin eruptions; ringing in the ears; swelling; unusual bruising; thirst.

Other: Indigestion; diarrhea; inflammation of the mouth; lightheadedness; feeling of a whirling motion; sweating; purple patches under the skin; hearing problems; changes in vision.

How should I take Anaprox (naproxen sodium)?
|
How much medicine you take/give and how often you take/give it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Anaprox (naproxen sodium) you are taking/giving, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the patient leaflet provided with Anaprox (naproxen sodium) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take or give Anaprox (naproxen sodium) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Do not use Anaprox (naproxen sodium) if you and/or your child have experienced asthma, runny nose with or without nasal polyps, or severe tightness in the chest after taking aspirin or similar medications. Anaprox (naproxen sodium) may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests, including eye exams, may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking/giving Anaprox (naproxen sodium). Do not stop taking/giving Anaprox (naproxen sodium) without talking with your health care provider. Do not take or give any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Do not take/give more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken/given too much of Anaprox (naproxen sodium). If a dose is missed, take/give it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your health care provider.
