Androgel (not available in Canada) is a hormone replacement product for men suffering from a low level of the male hormone testosterone

Do not take Androgel (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to Androgel (not available in Canada) or to any ingredient present in Androgel (not available in Canada), if you have prostate cancer or cancer of the breast

Before using Androgel (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking any herbal products, if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment, heart ot lung problem

Be aware that prolonged, high-dose therapy with male hormones is associated with liver disease and in some cases, liver cancer. Breast enlargement is also a common problem.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Androgel (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Androgel (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Androgel (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Treatment with Androgel (not available in Canada) also tends to worsen sleep apnea, a condition that causes breathing to stop temporarily during sleep. Obese men and those with chronic lung disease are especially at risk. Apply Androgel (not available in Canada) once daily in the morning to clean, dry skin. Empty the entire contents of the package into a clean hand and apply to the shoulders and upper arms and/or the abdomen. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Allow the application site to dry before dressing, then be sure to cover the treated area with clothing. Avoid bathing, showering, or swimming for 5 to 6 hours after application. Do not apply Androgel (not available in Canada) to the genitals. Combining Androgel (not available in Canada) with adrenocorticotropic hormone (Cortrosyn), or steroid drugs such as hydrocortisone (Hytone), prednisolone (Pediapred), and betamethasone (Diprolene) may increase fluid retention and swelling, especially in people with heart or kidney disease.

Store Androgel (not available in Canada) in a dry place at room temperature between 59° - 86°F. Keep out of reach of children and pets
