Before using Astramorph (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking any herbal products, if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment, heart ot lung problem, if you have abdominal problems, brain tumor, head injury, gallbladder disease, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, prostate disease, thyroid disease, urinary tract disease. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Astramorph (not available in Canada)?

Do not drink alcoholic beverages or take other CNS depressants (medicines that slow down the nervous system, possibly causing drowsiness) for about 24 hours after you have received Astramorph (not available in Canada) . To do so may add to the effects of the narcotic analgesic. Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicine for hay fever, other allergies, or colds; sedatives, tranquilizers, or sleeping medicine; prescription pain medicine or narcotics; barbiturates; medicine for seizures; and muscle relaxants. |

Most severe: Blurred or double vision or other vision problems; confusion; constipation; convulsions (seizures); difficult or painful urination; mental depression; shortness of breath, trouble in breathing, tightness in the chest, or wheezing; skin rash, hives, or itching; unusual excitement

Most common: Dizziness, light-headedness, or feeling faint; drowsiness; nausea or vomiting; unusual tiredness or weakness

How should I take Astramorph (not available in Canada)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Astramorph (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Astramorph (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Astramorph (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Use of Astramorph (not available in Canada) during surgery may cause some people to feel drowsy, tired, or weak for up to a few days after they have been given. Therefore, for at least 24 hours (or longer if necessary) after receiving Astramorph (not available in Canada), do not drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert.
