As with other topically applied ophthalmic drugs, Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) may be absorbed systemically. The same adverse reactions found with systemic administration of beta-adrenergic blocking agents may occur with topical administration. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Do not touch dropper tip to any surface, since this may contaminate the solution. Protect from light and excessive heat. Discard any unused solution after end of treatment period. |

Most severe:ÿ Severe breathing problems; severe allergic reaction.

Most common:ÿ Burning and stinging in the eyes; muscle weakness.
|

Other: Keratitis, blepharoptosis, visual disturbances including refractive changes (due to withdrawal of miotic therapy in some cases), diplopia, ptosis.

How should I take Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not allow the eye dropper to touch any surface, including the eye. Tell your health care provider that you are taking Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) if you are about to undergo surgery. Diabetic patients - Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) may mask signs of low blood sugar. Your health care provider may need to adjust the amount of diabetes medication that you are taking. Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) may contain sulfite preservatives that can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals, especially those with asthma. Refer to the package label or consult your health care provider or pharmacist. If you experience heart problems while taking Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol), stop taking Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) at once and contact your health care provider. Do not stop taking Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Betagan Eyedrops (levobunolol). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
