Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) is a form of the hormone estrogen and is used for treating the symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and urinary incontinence.

Do not take Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) or to similar medications, if you have a history of breast cancer or blood clots.

Before using Cenestin (conjugated estrogen), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have impairment of heart, lung, liver and kidney functions

Unless it's combined with the hormone progesterone, Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) can increase a woman's risk of developing cancer of the uterus and breasts.

Other: Headache, breast pain, irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting, stomach/abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and vomiting, hair loss, high blood pressure, liver problems, high blood sugar, fluid retention, enlargement of benign tumors of the uterus, vaginal yeast infection

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Cenestin (conjugated estrogen). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Have a breast exam and mammogram (breast X-ray) every year unless your healthcare provider tells you something else. If members of your family have had breast cancer or if you have ever had breast lumps or an abnormal mammogram, you may need to have breast exams more often. If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol (fat in the blood), diabetes, are overweight, or if you use tobacco, you may have higher chances for getting heart disease. Ask your healthcare provider for ways to lower your chances for getting heart disease.

Store Cenestin (conjugated estrogen) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
