Do not to exceed a 15 to 20 minute exposure of the ear canal to Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide). Do not use the drops more frequently than prescribed. If an untoward reaction occurs, the drops should be discontinued. |

Most severe: Severe redness and itching.

Most common: Mild redness and itching.

Other: Skin sores; burning and pain at the application site; skin rash.

How should I take Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide) is only for external use in the ear. Fill the ear with Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide) with the head tilted at a 45 degree angle. Avoid placing the tip of the applicator into the ear canal. Insert cotton plug into ear and allow it to remain for 15 to 30 minutes. Do not allow Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide) to stay in the ear for more than 30 minutes. Gently flush the ear with lukewarm water using a soft rubber syringe. Do not use excessive pressure. Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide) may be used a second time if necessary. Further use should only occur under the direction of a health care provider. Do not expose the skin outside the ear to Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide). If exposure occurs, wash and rinse the affected area completely with soap and water. If irritation develops, stop using Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide). Do not place the applicator tip in the ear canal. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Cerumenex (triethanolamine polypeptide). Do not apply any other over-the-counter or prescription medications for the ear without talking with your health care provider.
