Cholestin (not available in Canada) is used in combination with diet and regular exercise to lower your blood cholesterol

Do not use Cholestin (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to this or similar medicines or to any ingredient present in Cholestin (not available in Canada).

Before using Cholestin (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking any herbal products, if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment, heart ot lung problem

Alcohol and Cholestin (not available in Canada) taken together can both be damaging to the liver. Do not drink alcohol while taking Cholestin (not available in Canada). If you choose to drink alcohol, discuss with your doctor the use of red yeast rice. Another product or medicine may be more appropriate for you.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Cholestin (not available in Canada) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Cholestin (not available in Canada) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Cholestin (not available in Canada). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Cholestin (not available in Canada) should be taken with food to reduce stomach upset. Do not take more than 4 capsules within any 24-hours period, unless specifically directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with red yeast rice. The interaction could lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor if you choose to take red yeast rice. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor. Store red yeast rice as directed on the package. In general, red yeast rice should be protected from light and moisture and stored in a sealed container.

Store Cholestin (not available in Canada) in a dry place at room temperature between 59° - 86°F. Keep out of reach of children and pets
