Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies in patients over 12 years of age.

When should Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) not be taken?
|
Do not take Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) or to similar medications you have narrow-angle glaucoma you have problems urinating you are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the last 14 days you have severe high blood pressure you have severe heart disease |
What precautions should I follow when taking Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) ?

Before using Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you are taking a similar medication if you have high blood pressure if you have heart disease if you have diabetes if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate if you have impaired kidney or liver function if you have an overactive thyroid gland if you have increased pressure in the eye if you have difficulty swallowing if you have any other medical condition |

How should I take Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Take Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) with a full glass of water. Swallow Tablet whole. Do not break, crush, or chew them. Do not use Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) if you have a history of difficulty in swallowing Tablet or have upper stomach or food pipe narrowing. Diabetes patients -- Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) may affect your blood sugar level. Your doctor may need to change the amount of diabetes medicine you are taking. Do not take Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) if you are currently taking or have taken an MAO inhibitor within the past 2 weeks. If you are uncertain whether your other medications contain an MAO inhibitor, check with your health care provider. Consult a doctor before giving Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) to children under 12 years of age. Do not stop taking Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine) without talking with your health care provider. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of Claritin D (loratidine/pseudoephedrine). If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your health care provider.
