Clinoril (sulindac) is used to relieve the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (the most common form of arthritis), and ankylosing spondylitis (stiffness and progressive arthritis of the spine).

Do not take Clinoril (sulindac) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Clinoril (sulindac) or to similar medications if you have had asthma attacks caused by aspirin or other drugs of this type

Before using Clinoril (sulindac), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem

Stomach ulcers and bleeding can occur without warning, especially in older individuals. These and other side effects are also more likely if you have poor kidney function. Clinoril (sulindac) should be used with caution if you have kidney or liver disease; it can cause liver inflammation in some people. Do not take aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications while taking Clinoril, unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Other: Abdominal bleeding, abdominal inflammation, anemia, appetite change, bloody diarrhea, blurred vision, change in color of urine, chest pain, colitis, congestive heart failure, depression, fever, hair loss, hearing loss, hepatitis, high blood pressure, inability to sleep, inflammation of lips and tongue, kidney failure, liver failure, loss of sense of taste, low blood pressure, muscle and joint pain, nosebleed, painful urination, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer, sensitivity to light, shortness of breath, skin eruptions, sleepiness, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (blisters in the mouth and eyes), vaginal bleeding, weakness, yellow eyes and skin

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Clinoril (sulindac) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Clinoril (sulindac) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Clinoril (sulindac). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Clinoril (sulindac) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
