What are the side effects of Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg)?

Most severe: Persistent or severe nausea and vomiting, vomiting of blood, severe abdominal pain, severe bloating or abdominal swelling, slowed heartbeat, or muscle weakness.

Most common: Nausea, bloating, stomach fullness and cramps, vomiting and rectal irritation.

How should I take Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg). Inform your health care provider of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including throat (esophagus) disease, heart disease (e.g., abnormal heart rhythms, congestive heart failure), swallowing problems (e.g., history of aspiration), electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hyperkalemia), history of alcohol use, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Use of Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg) is not recommended if you have appendicitis or a history of bowel obstruction. The first bowel movement usually occurs about 1 hour after you begin drinking Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg). Drink only clear liquids from the time you start Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg) until your procedure is complete. Do not eat any solid food for at least 2 hours before you begin drinking Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg). Also, do not eat solid food until after your surgery or procedure is complete. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg). Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Colyte Lavage (electrolytes/peg) in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container after opening. Use withing 48 hours of opening. Keep out of reach of children and pets |
