What is Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) used for? |
Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) is used alone or with other allergy medications to prevent and relieve symptoms of hay fever and allergies, including runnyperitchy nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion. Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) is also used to prevent an asthma attack.

What are the side effects of Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate)?

Most severe: Cough, nasal congestion or irritation, nausea, sneezing, throat irritation, wheezing
|

Most common: Brief stinging or sneezing immediately after use.
|

Other: Angioedema (swelling of face around lips, tongue, and throat, swollen arms and legs), bad taste in mouth, burning in chest, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, ear problems, headache, hives, joint swelling and pain, nosebleed, painful urination or frequent urination, postnasal drip, rash, severe allergic reaction, swollen glands, swollen throat, teary eyes, tightness in throat

How should I take Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate)?
|
How much medicine you use and how often you use it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount andperor frequency of Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) you are using, talk with your health care provider. Blow your nose before using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate). Carefully follow the instructions for use. Hold the pump with your thumb at the bottom and the nozzle between your fingers. If this is your first time using the pump, or if you have not used the pump for several days, spray into the air until you see a fine mist. Insert the nozzle into your nostril and spray upward one time while breathing in through the nose. Repeat in the other nostril. Repeat this procedure 3 to 4 times daily (every 4 to 6 hours) up to 6 times per day or as directed by your health care provider. To keep the pump clean, wipe the nozzle and replace the cap and safety clip provided. The benefits of taking Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) are usually noticed after 1 or 2 weeks of use. For best results, start using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) 1 week before contact with the cause of your allergies. Do not share Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) with anyone else at this may spread germs. Stop using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) and contact your health care provider if any new symptoms develop or if your symptoms worsen or do not improve within 2 weeks of using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate). Contact your health care provider before using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate) in children under 2 years of age. Do not use more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Cromolyn Nasal Mist (sodium cromoglycate). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
