Before using Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have any other medical condition to avoid unwanted pregnancy do not use a latex condom or diaphragm until 72 hours of treatment as mineral oil present in Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) may weaken the contraceptive products |

Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) is not for oral or ophthalmic use. Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) is only for use in the vagina. Do not take by mouth. Wash hands before and after use. Read package directions carefully before using. Use Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) at bedtime, unless otherwise directed by your prescriber or health care professional. Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) can cause suppression of normal flora and result in superinfection with yeast or fungus. Consult you health care provider to treat the condition appropriately. |
What are the side effects of Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin)?

Most severe: Diarrhea; stomach cramps/pain; bloody stools; allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).

Most common: Vaginal discharge, infection, fungal infection; inflammation or pain.
|
|
Other: Flushing; menstrual disorder; urinary tract infection; stomach pain; bad breath; headache; bacteria infection; swelling; nausea; vomiting; constipation; indigestion; gas; overactive thyroid; dizziness; feeling of a whirling motion; nosebleed; skin infection; rash; hives; changes in taste.

How should I take Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Use Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) exactly as directed by your health care provider. Avoid contact with the eyes. Burning and irritation can occur. If contact does occur, rinse the eye with large amounts of cool tap water. Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) is for vaginal use only. Wash your hands before and after using Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin). To use, remove the cap from the tube. Screw the plastic applicator on the threaded end of the tube. Rolling the tube from the bottom, squeeze gently and force Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) into the applicator. The applicator is filled when the plunger reaches its predetermined stopping point. Unscrew the applicator from the tube and replace the cap. While lying on your back, firmly grasp the applicator barrel and insert into the vagina as far as it will possibly go without causing discomfort. Slowly push the plunger until it stops. Carefully remove the applicator from the vagina and throw the applicator away. Use Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) at bedtime. This will help keep Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) in the vagina and reduce leaking. Do not have sexual intercourse or use other vaginal products such as tampons, or douches while using Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin). This cream contains mineral oil that may weaken latex products such as condoms and diaphragms. Therefore, do not use these products within 72 hours of treatment with this product. If severe diarrhea, stomach cramps/pain, or bloody stools occurs, contact your doctor at once. This could be a symptom of a serious side effect requiring immediate medical attention. Do not treat diarrhea without consulting your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin). Do not stop using Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin) without checking with your doctor. Do not use more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have used too much of Dalacin Vaginal Cream (clindamycin). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
