Avoid having dairy products, such as yogurt, milk, or cheese with Declomycin (demeclocycline); they can reduce the effect of Declomycin (demeclocycline). Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take Declomycin (demeclocycline) more often than directed. Finish the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber's advice. Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of Declomycin (demeclocycline) in children. Special care may be needed |
What are the side effects of Declomycin (demeclocycline)?

Most severe: Blurred vision or other vision problems, dark yellow or brown urine, difficulty breathing, dizziness, frequent passing of urine, headache, increase in the amount of urine, increased sensitivity to the sun or ultraviolet light, increased thirst, itching in the rectal or genital area, pain on swallowing, redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), stomach pain or cramps, skin rash or itching, swelling of face or neck, tingling or numbness of the hands or feet, unusual bleeding or bruising, unusual tiredness or weakness, yellowing of eyes or skin.

Most common: Diarrhea, discolored tongue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, sore mouth

Other: Dizziness, drowsiness, decreased mental alertness
|
How should I take Declomycin (demeclocycline)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Declomycin (demeclocycline) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Declomycin (demeclocycline) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Declomycin (demeclocycline). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
