What is Differin (adapalene) used for? |
Differin (adapalene) is used to treat mild to moderate acne.

Do not take Differin (adapalene) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Differin (adapalene) or to similar medications. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Differin (adapalene) ?

Before using Differin (adapalene), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you are taking blood thinners if you have stomach problems if you have peptic ulcers if you have any other medical condition like liver or kidney function impairment or heart problem if you have or have had eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, skin abrasions, sunburn, an unusual or allergic reaction vitamin A, foods, dyes, or preservatives. |

What are the side effects of Differin (adapalene)?

Most severe: Severe burning, itching, reddening, crusting, or swelling of the treated areas
|
|
Most common: Increased sensitivity to the sun, mild burning or stinging, red, inflamed, and irritated skin, the skin may peel after a few days
|

How should I take Differin (adapalene)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Differin (adapalene) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Differin (adapalene) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Differin (adapalene). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Do not wash your face more than 2 or 3 times a day, unless told to by your prescriber or health care professional. Do not use the following products on the same areas that you are treating with Differin (adapalene), unless otherwise directed by your prescriber or health care professional: medicated cosmetics, cosmetics that dry the skin (especially products that contain alcohol), abrasive soaps or cleaners, and any other acne preparation or skin treatment. If you use these products in combination with Differin (adapalene) they can cause severe skin irritation.

How should Differin (adapalene) be stored?

Store Differin (adapalene) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets. |
