EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria. It is also used to treat certain sexually transmitted diseases.

Before using EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you and/or your child are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you and/or your child have impaired kidney or liver function if you and/or your child have myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness) if you and/or your child have any other medical condition |

EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) can cause significant hepatic dysfunction and colitis. If symptoms suggestive of these diseases occur, discontinue treatment with EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) and seek immediate medical attention. |

How should I take EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate)?
|
How much medicine you take/give and how often you take/give it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) you are taking/giving, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take/give EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) exactly as directed by your health care provider. EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) may be taken with or without food. If nausea or stomach upset occur, take it with food. Swallow Tablet whole to avoid unpleasant taste. Do not chew them. Contact your health care provider at once if severe rash, itching, or hives develop. Take/give EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day, preferably around the clock. Contact your health care provider at once if severe rash, itching, or hives develop. If severe diarrhea, stomach cramps/pain, or bloody stools occur, contact your doctor at once. This could be a sign of a serious side effect requiring instant medical attention. Do not treat diarrhea without talking with your health care provider. Long-term or repeated use of EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) may cause a second infection. You may need to stop taking/giving EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) and start another medication to treat the second infection. Contact your doctor if you suspect a second infection. Continue to use until of the prescribed medicine has been taken. Failure to take all of EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) may prevent complete elimination of the bacteria, allowing the infection to return. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking/giving EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate). Do not stop taking/giving EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take/give more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken/given too much of EES (erythromycin ethylsuccinate). Do not take/give any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take/give it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
