What is Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) used for? |
Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) is used as a muscle relaxant to treat short-term painful muscle conditions in patients over 15 years of age. It is used in combination with rest and physical therapy.

What are the side effects of Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine)?

Most severe: Irregular heartbeat; fast heartbeat.
|
|
Most common: Drowsiness; dry mouth; dizziness; fatigue; weakness; nausea; constipation; upset stomach; unpleasant taste; blurred vision; headache; nervousness; confusion.

Other: Testicular swelling and gynecomastia in the male, breast enlargement and galactorrhea in the female. Increased or decreased libido, elevation and lowering of blood sugar levels.

How should I take Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine)?
|
Do not use longer than 2 or 3 weeks. If pain continues, contact your doctor. How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) may produce drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision; patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or dexterity. May cause sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or other forms of ultraviolet (UV) light (eg, tanning beds). Use sunscreens and other forms of protective clothing until tolerance is known. Do not stop taking Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor.
