What is Flomax (tamsulosin) used for? |

What are the side effects of Flomax (tamsulosin)?

Most severe: Vision changes, postural hypotension.
|
|
Most common: Headache; dizziness; lightheadedness; feeling of a whirling motion; weakness; diarrhea; back pain; drowsiness; runny nose; increased cough; nausea; abnormal ejaculation.

Other: Sleeplessness; changes in sex drive.
|
How should I take Flomax (tamsulosin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Flomax (tamsulosin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not crush, chew, or open the Capsule. Swallow them whole. If you take Flomax (tamsulosin) once daily, take it approximately 30 minutes following the same meal each day, or as directed by your health care provider. Flomax (tamsulosin) may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Flomax (tamsulosin). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider.
