What is Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) used for? |
This vaccine is used to protect against certain strains of influenza in patients 6 months of age and older. Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) is also known as the "flu shot".

Do not take Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) you are allergic to eggs you are sensitive to thimersol if you have lung infections or disease if you have any other active infections or illnesses if you have an active neurological disorder if you have a history of Guillain-Barre syndrome |

Most severe: Hives; skin inflammation; swelling of the lips and tongue; breathing problems.

Most common: Soreness at the vaccination site; fever; general body discomfort; muscle pain; headache.

How should I take Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine)?
|
How much medicine you are given and how often it is given depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) you are given, talk with your health care provider. You should receive this vaccine once a year. This vaccine will be prepared and administered by your health care provider. Talk with your health care provider about the benefits and risks of this vaccine. Contact your health care provider if any of the following side effects occur: Fever; general body discomfort; muscle pain; headache; hives; skin inflammation; shock; swelling of the lips and tongue; breathing problems. The length of protection from the virus is not known, nor is it a guarantee that the vaccine will protect everyone from the flu virus. Protection is not immediate, so it is necessary to be vaccinated before exposure. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine).

Store Fluzone (influenza virus vaccine) between 35 and 46 degrees F. Do not freeze. |
