Gravol (dimenhydrinate) is used for the prevention and relief of motion sickness and treatment of vertigo (dizziness), nausea or vomiting associated with electroshock therapy, anaesthesia and surgery,

Do not take Gravol (dimenhydrinate) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Gravol (dimenhydrinate) or to similar medications. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Gravol (dimenhydrinate) ?

Before using Gravol (dimenhydrinate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Gravol (dimenhydrinate)?

Gravol (dimenhydrinate) may lead to drowsiness and impaired concentration, which may be aggravated by simultaneous intake of alcohol or other central nervous system depressant agents. Patients should be warned not to drive a motor vehicle, operate dangerous machinery or climb dangerous heights as impaired decision making could lead to accidents. |
What are the side effects of Gravol (dimenhydrinate)?

Most severe: Inability to concentrate, lassitude (lack of energy, fatigue, lethargy), dizziness, hypotension (low blood pressure) muscular weakness and inco-ordination.
|
|
Most common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation and epigastric pain (pain in the upper, middle region of the stomach). Headache, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), elation and depression, irritability, nightmares, anorexia (lack of appetite), difficulty in micturition (passing of urine), dryness of the mouth, tightness of the chest and tingling, heaviness and weakness of the hands

Other: Insomnia (inability to sleep), nervousness, tachycardia (increased rate of heart beat), tremors, muscle twitching and convulsions (seizures and fits).
|
How should I take Gravol (dimenhydrinate)?
|
How much medicine to give and how often to give depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of your pet. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Gravol (dimenhydrinate) you are giving to your pet, talk to your veterinarian. If a dose is missed, give it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your veterinarian. If more than one dose is missed, contact your veterinarian or pharmacist.
