Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) is used for the treatment of Diabetes

Do not take Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) or to similar medications.

Before using Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have impairment of heart, lung, liver and kidney functions

Do not switch brands or types of insulin without consulting your prescriber or health care professional; this can result in dangerously high or low blood sugar.

Other: (Symptoms of low blood sugar) Abnormal behavior, anxiety, blurred vision, cold sweat, confusion, depressed mood, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, hunger, inability to concentrate, light-headedness, nausea, nervousness, personality changes, rapid heartbeat, restlessness, sleep disturbances, slurred speech, sweating, tingling in the hands, feet, lips, or tongue, tremor, unsteady movement

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Do not change the type of insulin you use unless directed to do so by your health care professional. You should check your glucose levels with home blood and urine testing devices. If your blood tests consistently show above-normal sugar levels or your urine tests consistently show the presence of sugar, your diabetes is not properly controlled, and you should tell your doctor. To prepare a dose: Clean the rubber stopper of the vial with an alcohol wipe. Roll the bottle gently between the palms of your hands to mix and warm the solution (not necessary for regular insulin, insulin aspart, or insulin lispro). Be sure to mix the solution well, but do not shake vigorously. Pull back the plunger of a disposable syringe to fill the syringe with an amount of air equal to your dose of insulin (if your dose is 30 units, pull the plunger to the 30 unit mark). Insert the needle into the rubber stopper of the vial, and inject the air into the vial (this will make the insulin easier to remove). Turn the vial upside down, and pull back on the plunger to fill the syringe with prescribed number of units of insulin. Remove any air bubbles trapped in the syringe. If you are mixing two types of insulin in the syringe, measure the regular, aspart, or lispro insulin first. To inject a dose: Select an injection site on the stomach, arm, buttocks, or thigh, and clean with an alcohol wipe. Pinch the skin up with your fingers about three inches apart, and insert the needle at an angle of 45—90 degrees. Pull back on the plunger to make sure the needle is not in a blood vessel before injecting the insulin. If blood appears, remove the needle, reinsert it in a different (nearby) location, and repeat the process. If no blood appears, press the plunger to deliver the insulin. Remove the needle from the skin and press gently on the injection site for a moment (but do not rub or massage). Rotate your injection site such that each site is not used more than once every 1—2 months.

Store Humalog (insulin lispro recombinant) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
