Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) is used to manage moderate to severe pain for more than a few days.

Do not take Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) or to morphine salts you have severe asthma or other breathing problems you have known or suspected paralysis of the intestines you are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the last 14 days you have increased pressure within the head or neck or other head injuries you have a brain tumor

Before using Kadian (controlled, not able to ship), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplements if you have heart disease or other heart problems if you have severe low blood pressure if you have biliary tract disease if you have severe liver or kidney problems if you have Addison's disease if you have thyroid problems if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland or other conditions if you are heavily sedated if you have experienced bizarre behavior due to use of alcohol or other narcotics if you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol if you are in the acute stages of withdrawal from alcohol or other narcotics if you have a history of convulsions if you have difficulty swallowing if you have any other medical condition

Other:  Weakness; headache; excessive sweating; general body discomfort; changes in blood pressure; flushing; confusion; dry mouth; anxiety; abnormal thinking; abnormal dreams; lack of energy; tremor; loss of concentration; sleeplessness; amnesia; abnormal skin sensations; agitation; feeling of a whirling motion; foot drop; clumsiness; slurred speech; exaggerated sense of well-being; apathy; uncontrolled muscle movements; loss of appetite; difficulty swallowing; indigestion; bubbling of contents back into the food pipe; unusual tiredness; voice alteration; rapid eye movements; swelling; rash; ulcer; hives; itching; blurred vision; double vision; choking; urinary problems; changes in sex drive; prolonged labor. Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) may be habit-forming. Withdrawal from Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) should be gradual.

How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Swallow capsules whole. Do not crush, chew, or dissolve Kadian (controlled, not able to ship). If capsules cannot be swallowed whole, you may open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on a small amount of applesauce right before ingesting. Do not chew, crush, or dissolve the pellets. Rinse your mouth with water to make sure you swallow the pellets. Do not mix the pellets and store for future use. Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) works best if taken regularly. It is better at preventing pain than stopping pain after it starts. Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Avoid drinking alcohol or taking other medications (eg, sedatives, tranquilizers) that cause drowsiness while you are taking Kadian (controlled, not able to ship). Excessive drowsiness usually disappears in 3 to 5 days. Consult your doctor if it continues, or is accompanied by unsteadiness or confusion. Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) may cause nausea, vomiting, or constipation. Constipation may be avoided by using a stool softener or fiber laxative. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Kadian (controlled, not able to ship). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and advise your health care provider at your next appointment.

Store Kadian (controlled, not able to ship) at controlled room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light and moisture.
