What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide)?

Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) is for external use only. As Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) may cause mild sedation or drowsiness, warn the patient not to drive or operate machinery until these effects have disappeared. At a minimum of 3 month intervals during teatment with Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide), in addition to the eye examinations, patients must be investigated with respect to biochemical parameters, particularly renal and liver functions. Avoid contact of synthetic fabrics with skin wetted with Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide). |

How should I take Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. No change in the human eye has been positively associated with the use of Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) but regular periodic and full eye examinations including slit lamp examination must be given before and during treatment. Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) should not be used under occlusive dressings, or as a vehicle for other drugs. Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) when applied to already infected skin may induce invasion by certain microorganisms. Repeated application of the drug may lessen its effectiveness in some individuals. Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) may cause dizziness and changes in vision. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests will be necessary before, during, and after the use of Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide). Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel like you have taken too much of Kemsol (dimethyl sulfoxide). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
