How should I take Ketek (telithromycin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Ketek (telithromycin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Ketek (telithromycin) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Ketek (telithromycin) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of Ketek (telithromycin) and other antibacterial drugs, Ketek (telithromycin) should be used only to treat infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy. Ketek (telithromycin) may cause dizziness and changes in vision. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests will be necessary before, during, and after the use of Ketek (telithromycin). Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Ketek (telithromycin) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel like you have taken too much of Ketek (telithromycin). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
