What is Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) used for? |
Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) is used for the relief of acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach and upset stomach associated with these symptoms. Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) is also used as source for extra calcium.

Do not take Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) if you suffer from phenylketonuria. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) ?

Before using Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide)?

Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) should not be used in patients with hypercalcemia or intestinal obstruction except on the advice of a physician. Do not take this product for more than two weeks, or if symptoms recur, unless directed by a physician. Do not take this product within two hours of another medication because the effectiveness of the other medication may be altered. |

How should I take Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide)?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Maalox TC (aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
