While being treated with Mandelamine (methenamine), eat foods high in protein including plums or prunes, or drink cranberry juice, unless otherwise instructed by your health care provider. Drink plenty of fluids. |

How should I take Mandelamine (methenamine)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Mandelamine (methenamine) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Mandelamine (methenamine) should be taken after each meal and at bedtime. Painful urination may occur while taking Mandelamine (methenamine). Taking less of Mandelamine (methenamine) can control this problem. The limiting of certain foods and medicine may be needed while taking Mandelamine (methenamine). Talk with your health care provider about which foods and medicine that you cannot take while on Mandelamine (methenamine). Do not stop taking Mandelamine (methenamine) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Mandelamine (methenamine). Do not take more medication than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
