Injection

Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) is an anesthetic. It is used to cause numbness in the area of the body where it is injected e.g. before and during surgery or other procedures, childbirth, or dental work.

Do not take Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) or to similar medications.

Before using Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure

Be careful to avoid injury until you have regained all the feeling and are no longer numb. Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) may make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.

Other: Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing, chest pain, uneven heartbeat, trouble breathing, lightheadedness or fainting, numbness in another part of your body that has not been treated with Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride), ringing in your ears, seizures.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Marcaine Injection (bupivacaine hydrochloride) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
