Do not take Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) or to similar medications or if you have an allergy to sulfa-containing medications you are unable to urinate you are past the third month of pregnancy |

Before using Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have liver or kidney disease if you have a history of allergy or asthma if you are taking potassium supplements or salt substitutes if you have any other medical condition |

What are the side effects of Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz)?

Most severe: Fast heartbeat; fainting.
|
|
Most common: Tiredness; flu-like symptoms; dizziness; diarrhea; nausea.
|
|
Other: Back pain; indigestion; vomiting; dizziness or lightheadedness; sore throat; rash; stomach pain; pain; headache; cough; sudden joint pain.
|
How should I take Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) may be taken with or without food. Women of childbearing potential should report pregnancy to their doctors as soon as possible. Lightheadedness can occur, especially during the first few days of taking Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz). If this occurs, report it to your doctor. If fainting occurs, stop taking Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) and talk with your doctor. Inadequate fluid intake, excessive sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting can lead to a large fall in blood pressure accompanied with lightheadedness and possible fainting. Contact your doctor if any of the following occurs: Dry mouth; thirst; weakness; lack of energy; drowsiness; restlessness; confusion; seizures; muscle pains or cramps; muscle fatigue; dizziness or lightheadedness; infrequent urination; fast heartbeat; nausea; vomiting. Diabetes patients - Be sure to monitor your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may need to adjust the amount of insulin or other diabetes medications that you are taking. Do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium without talking with your doctor. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz). Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any dietary supplements or herbal preparations. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Store Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) at 77 degrees F. Do not remove Micardis HCT (telmisartan/hctz) from the blister pack until right before taking. |
