How should I take Mirapex (pramipexole)?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Mirapex (pramipexole) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take Mirapex (pramipexole) with food if stomach upset occurs. Dosage will be started low and gradually increased to achieve the best results. Do not change dose sooner than recommended. Hallucinations or abnormal dreams may occur whole taking Mirapex (pramipexole). Older patients are at a higher risk of hallucinations than younger patients. Patients may develop low blood pressure while taking Mirapex (pramipexole), especially at the beginning of taking Mirapex (pramipexole). Do not rise rapidly after sitting or lying down, especially after a long period of time. Mirapex (pramipexole) may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring mental alertness, coordination, and physical dexterity. Avoid alcohol and use caution if you are taking other central nervous system depressants (eg, narcotics, tranquilizers, antihistamines) because of the sedative side effects. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Mirapex (pramipexole). Do not take more medication than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Lab tests may be required to monitor treatment. Be sure to keep appointments.
