What is Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) used for? |
Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) is used to dilate pupils and relieve redness. It may also be used to relieve minor eye irritation.

When should Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) not be taken?
|
Do not take Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) you have narrow-angle glaucoma you have narrow angles (not caused by glaucoma), if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, difficulty in urination. Do not use in children under 6 years of age unless directed by a physician. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) ?

Before using Naphcon Forte (naphazoline), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplements if you are taking an MAO inhibitor if you have high blood pressure if you have heart problems if you have diabetes if you have an overactive thyroid if you have an eye infection or injury if you have any other medical condition |

Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) should not be used to treat infants and children or in patients taking monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. |
What are the side effects of Naphcon Forte (naphazoline)?

Most severe:ÿ Burning, stinging, blurred vision, condition worsens.
|
|
Most common:ÿ Dilation of the pupils; tearing; initial irritation.
|
|
Other:ÿ Discomfort; increased inner eye pressure; increased redness; blurred vision; sleepiness; headache; nausea; sweating; drowsiness; weakness.

How should I take Naphcon Forte (naphazoline)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Wash hands before using the drops. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to the eye or any other surface. Avoid touching inside of bottle cap. Instill 1 or 2 drops of medicine into the eye every 3 to 4 hours or as directed by your health care provider. Contact your doctor if any of the following occur: Increased or persistent irritation; blurring, or redness; no improvement of symptoms after 48 hours of using Naphcon Forte (naphazoline); dizziness; headache; nausea; decrease in body temperature; drowsiness. Do not use if the solution changes color or becomes cloudy. Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) may cause sleepiness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Use caution while driving or performing tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Naphcon Forte (naphazoline). Do not take more medicine than recommended unless advised to do so by your health care provider.

How should Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) be stored?
|

Store Naphcon Forte (naphazoline) solution between 59 to 86 degrees F. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light. Replace cap immediately after use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children. |
