What is Nasalide (flunisolide) used for? |
Nasalide (flunisolide) is sprayed or inhaled into the nose to help relieve the stuffy nose, irritation, and discomfort of hay fever, other allergies, and other nasal problems.

When should Nasalide (flunisolide) not be taken?
|
Do not take Nasalide (flunisolide) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Nasalide (flunisolide) or to similar medications. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Nasalide (flunisolide) ?

Before using Nasalide (flunisolide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Nasalide (flunisolide)?

Do not puncture, break, or burn the aerosol container, even after it is empty. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Also, discard any unused solution 3 months after you open the package. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children. |
What are the side effects of Nasalide (flunisolide)?
|
|
Most severe: Bad smell; blindness; bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds; blurred or gradual loss of vision; burning or stinging after use of spray or irritation inside nose (continuing); crusting, white patches, or sores inside nose; discharge or redness in eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid; eye pain; headache; hives; light-headedness or dizziness; loss of sense of taste or smell; muscle pain; nausea or vomiting; ringing in the ears; shortness of breath; skin rash; sore throat, cough, or hoarseness; stomach pains; stuffy, dry, or runny nose or watery eyes (continuing); swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; tightness in chest; troubled breathing; unusual tiredness or weakness; wheezing; white patches in throat

Most common: Burning, dryness, or other irritation inside the nose (mild, lasting only a short time); increase in sneezing; irritation of throat, seezing; itching of throat

Other: Acne; blurred vision; bone fractures; excess hair growth in females; fullness or rounding of the face, neck, and trunk; high blood pressure; impotence in males; increased urination or thirst; lack of menstrual periods; menstrual changes; muscle wasting and weakness

How should I take Nasalide (flunisolide)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Nasalide (flunisolide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Nasalide (flunisolide) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Nasalide (flunisolide). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Before using Nasalide (flunisolide), clear the nasal passages by blowing your nose. Then, with the nosepiece inserted into the nostril, aim the spray towards the inner corner of the eye. In order for Nasalide (flunisolide) to help you, it must be used regularly as ordered by your doctor . Nasalide (flunisolide) usually begins to work in about 1 week (for dexamethasone), but up to 3 weeks may pass before you feel its full effects.

Store Nasalide (flunisolide) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets. |
