Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) is used to treat allergy symptoms, such as runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing in adults and children over 3 years of age. It may also be used to prevent nasal symptoms of seasonal allergies in adults and children 12 years and older. It may be used with other medicines.

Do not use Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone)

Before using Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding if you and/or your child are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you and/or your child have previously been treated with steroids for a long period of time if you and/or your child have recently experienced nasal septum ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma if you and/or your child have an untreated fungal, bacterial, or viral infection if you and/or your child have a herpes infection near the eye if you and/or your child have tuberculosis if you and/or your child have asthma or a respiratory tract infection if you and/or your child have any other medical condition

Excessive use of Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) leads to menstrual irregularities, acne, obesity, muscle weakness, increased chances to infections especially viral and fungal infections.

Other:  Glaucoma; cataracts; vomiting.

How much medicine you use/give and how often you use/give it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) you are using/giving, talk with your health care provider. Carefully follow read the information provided with Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Use/give Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) exactly as directed by your health care provider. Shake Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) well before each use. Do not spray into the eyes or directly onto the nasal septum. Before using Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone), prime the pump by spraying it 10 times or until a fine spray appears. The pump may be stored unused for up to 1 week without repriming. If it is not used for more than 1 week, reprime it by spraying it twice, or until a fine spray appears. If you are using Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) to prevent seasonal allergy symptoms, begin treatment 2 to 4 weeks before the expected start of the pollen season. Contact your health care provider if acne or cushingoid symptoms (weight gain; sleep disorders; raised blood pressure; [easy] bruising; moon face; thin, vulnerable skin; mood changes; blurred vision; brittle bones; irregular or absent menstrual cycles; excessive hair growth; muscular weakness; impaired wound healing; tiredness) occur while using Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone). Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles while using Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone). If you are exposed, contact your health care provider at once. The maximum benefit of Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) is usually achieved within 1 to 2 weeks. Contact your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Consult a health care provider before giving Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) to children under 3 years of age. Do not use/give more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have used/given too much of Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone). Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using/giving Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone). Do not take/give any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, use/give it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and advise your doctor or pharmacist at your next appointment.

Store Nasonex Nasal Spray (mometasone) between 36 and 77 degrees F. Protect from light. If the spray is removed from its cardboard container, do not expose it to direct light for a long period of time. Brief exposure to light with normal use is acceptable.
