For external use only. Do not use Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) for eyes or ears. The absorption of Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) may be increased in neonates and infants, thus Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) is not recommended for use in neonates, and should be used at reduced dosages in infants. |

Most severe: Severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, rash, hives), ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity.

How should I take Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) is for external use only. Do not use in or near the eyes or apply over large parts of the body. Clean the affected area before applying Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin). Apply a small amount of Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) (about the size of the tip of the finger) to the affected area. The treated area may be covered with a bandage. In cases of deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns, contact your doctor. Stop using Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) and call your health care provider if the condition continues for more than 1 week or get worse. If the condition clears up but come comes back after a few days, call your health care provider. If allergic reactions occur, stop using Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) and talk to your health care provider. Do not use Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin) longer than 1 week unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Neosporin (neomycin/bacitracin/polymyxin).
