What is Neuleptil (pericyazine) used for? |
Neuleptil (pericyazine) is used for the control of residual prevailing hostility, impulsiveness and aggressiveness in some psychotic patients.

|
Do not take Neuleptil (pericyazine) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Neuleptil (pericyazine) or similar medications if you have circulatory collapse, altered states of consciousness or comatose states, particularly when they are due to intoxication with CNS depress |
What precautions should I follow when taking Neuleptil (pericyazine) ?

Before using Neuleptil (pericyazine), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condit |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Neuleptil (pericyazine)?

Use Neuleptil (pericyazine) with extreme caution in elderly and debilitated patients. Because drowsiness, slowing of reaction time or impaired judgment may occur while using Neuleptil (pericyazine), do not operate a motor vehicle or engage in dangerous activities while under the action of the drug. |
What are the side effects of Neuleptil (pericyazine)?

Most severe: The extrapyramidal reactions include: Parkinsonism, dystonic reactions and akathisia.
|
|
Most common: Drowsiness, low blood pressure, increased heart rate, blurred vision, aggravation of glaucoma, dry mouth (sometimes with oral infections and dental caries), nausea, vomiting, constipation, fecal impactation, paralytic ileus, perspiration,
|
|
Other: Delayed ovulation, menstrual irregularities, lactation, gynecomastia, changes in libido, inhibition of ejaculation, false positive pregnancy tests, weight gain and edema.

How should I take Neuleptil (pericyazine)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Neuleptil (pericyazine) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Neuleptil (pericyazine) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Neuleptil (pericyazine) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Stop taking Neuleptil (pericyazine) and contact your health care provider at once if you become pregnant while taking Neuleptil (pericyazine). Contact your health care provider if unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness occur, especially if accompanied by general body discomfort or fever. You should stop taking Neuleptil (pericyazine) briefly if any of the following occur: Blood infection; low blood pressure; major surgery; serious injury; severe metabolic, endocrine, or electrolyte disorders; or uncontrolled epilepsy. Neuleptil (pericyazine) may cause dizziness and changes in vision. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Neuleptil (pericyazine) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel like you have taken too much of Neuleptil (pericyazine). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
