What are the side effects of Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex)?

Most severe: Nausea; vomiting; dizziness; weakness.
|
|
Most common: Mouth pain; tooth problems; jaw pain; pounding in the chest.
|
|
Other: Mechanical effects of gum chewing include traumatic injury to oral mucosa or teeth, jaw ache, and eructation secondary to air swallowing.

How should I take Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Weeks 1 to 6: 1 piece of gum every 1 to 2 hours. Week 7 to 9: 1 piece of gum every 2 to 4 hours. Weeks 10 to 12: I piece of gum every 4 to 8 hours. Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) is to help in the stopping of smoking by reducing the withdrawal symptoms of nicotine. Stop smoking completely when you begin using Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex). Use of this product should be part of a larger program to help you to stop smoking. If you need help finding a program, talk to your health care provider. Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes before using Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) or while chewing a piece of Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) gum. Do not chew more than 24 pieces of gum a day. Stop using Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) at the end of 12 weeks. If you still have a need for Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex), talk with your health care provider. Stop using Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) if any of the following occurs: Mouth, teeth, or jaw problems; pounding in the chest; nausea; vomiting; dizziness; weakness. This product contains nicotine and should be kept out of reach of children and pets. A small amount of nicotine can poison a child or pet. Do not stop taking Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex) without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Nicorette Inhaler (nicotine polacrilex). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
