What precautions should I follow when taking Nilandron (nilutamide) ?

Before using Nilandron (nilutamide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Nilandron (nilutamide)?

Before taking this medicne, the hepatic and respiratory state of the patient should be eveluated. |
What are the side effects of Nilandron (nilutamide)?
|
|
Most severe: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes; breathing difficulty; cough; chest pain; fever.
|
|
Most common: Constipation; hot flushes; dizziness; impaired adaptation to darkness; abnormal vision; urinary tract infection; flu-like symptoms (headache; tiredness; muscle aches).
|
|
Other: Angina pectoris, anxiety dyspnea palpitation, cold extremities, dizziness, headache, gynecomastia, maculopapular rash, urticaria, vomiting and weight increase.
|
How should I take Nilandron (nilutamide)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Nilandron (nilutamide) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Nilandron (nilutamide) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Nilandron (nilutamide) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Nilandron (nilutamide) may be taken with or without food. Nilandron (nilutamide) should be started on the day of or on the day after surgery. Stop taking Nilandron (nilutamide) and contact your health care provider at once if any of the following occur: Difficulty breathing or aggravation of preexisting breathing difficulty; cough; chest pain; fever. Contact your health care provider if shortness of breath occurs or worsens while you are taking Nilandron (nilutamide). Contact your health care provider at once if nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes occurs. Do not drink alcohol while taking his medicine. Facial flushing, general body discomfort, and lightheadedness may occur in patients who are intolerant of alcoholic beverages. Nilandron (nilutamide) may cause dizziness or changes in vision. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Lab tests will be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Nilandron (nilutamide). Do not stop taking Nilandron (nilutamide) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have used too much of Nilandron (nilutamide). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
