Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) is used for the treatment of ringworm, jock itch, athlete's foot and tinea versicolor (pityriasis), excessively oily skin, and other skin infections

Do not take Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) if you are allergic to any ingredient of Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole)

Before using Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical conditions

Do not use Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) for eye infections. For external use only.

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Clinical improvement may be seen fairly soon after treatment has begun; however, candidal infections and jock itch and ringworm should be treated for two weeks in order to reduce the possibility of recurrence. Patients with tinea versicolor usually require two weeks of treatment. Patients with athlete's foot require six weeks of treatment. When treating excessively oily skin, Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) should be applied to the affected area twice daily for four weeks or until the area is clean. Contact your doctor if there is no improvement after these time periods. Some of these products may contain sulfite preservatives which can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals (such as asthma patients). Check package label when available or consult your doctor or pharmacist. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and consult your doctor. Do not stop taking Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Patients with previous conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole).

Store Nizoral Cream (ketoconazole) at room temperature not above 77 degrees F. Protect from excessive heat and light. Keep out of the reach of children.
