Before using Persantine (dipyrimidole), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine (especially adenosine), nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have severe heart disease (including chest pain or a recent heart attack) if you have liver problems if you have low blood pressure if you have any other medical condition. Concurrent use of this medicne with anticoagulants or thrombolytic agents may increase the risk of hemorrhage. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Persantine (dipyrimidole)?

Persantine (dipyrimidole) should be used with caution in patients with hypotension, rapidly worsening angina, subvalvular aortic stenosis or hemodynamic instability. Such patients may be at risk for developing myocardial ischemia and infarction. |
What are the side effects of Persantine (dipyrimidole)?

Most severe: Chest pain; pounding in the chest; fast heartbeat; allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); swelling of the larynx; headache, nausea, vomitting, abdominal cramping, hepatitis.

Most common: Dizziness; stomach pain; headache; diarrhea; vomiting; flushing; itching.
|

Other: Tiredness; general body discomfort; muscle aches; arthritis; nausea; indigestion; abnormal skin sensations; hair loss.

How should I take Persantine (dipyrimidole)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Persantine (dipyrimidole) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Persantine (dipyrimidole) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Persantine (dipyrimidole) exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Persantine (dipyrimidole) is taken with medicines that help preventblood clots. Do not take aspirin while you are taking medicines that help prevent blood clots. Persantine (dipyrimidole) may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness or physical dexterity. Do not stop taking Persantine (dipyrimidole) without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Persantine (dipyrimidole). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of Persantine (dipyrimidole). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
