Do not take Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) or to similar medications you are pregnant, especially after the third month you have had chest pain or difficulty breathing due to the previous use of Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) or a similar medication if you have impaired kidney function |

When used in pregnancy after the third month, Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus. When pregnancy is detected, stop using Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) as soon as possible. |
What are the side effects of Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ)?

Most severe:ÿ Severe allergic reaction, including swelling of the face, hands, feet, lips, tongue and throat; serious blood disorders.
|
|
Most common:ÿ Headache; dizziness; chest pain; cough.
|
|
Other: Fever, vasculitis, myalgia, arthralgia/arthritis, a positive ANA, elevated ESR, eosinophilia and leukocytosis. rash, photosensitivity
|
How should I take Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Report at once any signs or symptoms (swelling of the face, extremities, eyes, lips, tongue, difficulty in swallowing or breathing) to you doctor and to take no more of Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) until you talk with your doctor. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur if you stand up too fast from a lying or sitting position and avoid sudden changes in posture. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Report any lightheadedness, especially during the first few days of taking Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) to your doctor. If you experience fainting, you should stop using Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) until you talk with your doctor. Do not use salt substitutes containing potassium without first talking with your doctor. Report at once any signs of infection (sore throat, fever). A persistent, unproductive cough may occur. Tell your doctor if this occurs. Recovery is rapid when Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) is stopped. Patients being treated for high blood pressure often feel tired or rundown for a few weeks after beginning taking blood pressure medications. Continue taking you medicine even though you may not feel quite "normal". Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about any new symptoms. Black patients may not respond as well to Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ). Do not stop taking Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Prinzide (lisinopril/HCTZ). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
