As with other topically applied ophthalmic drugs, Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin) may be absorbed systemically. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Do not touch dropper tip to any surface, since this may contaminate the solution. Protect from light and excessive heat. Discard any unused solution after end of treatment period. |
What are the side effects of Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin)?

Most severe:ÿ Swelling of the eye; fast heartbeat; irregular heart beats.

Most common:ÿ Burning; stinging.

Other:ÿ Enlarged pupils; blurry vision; headache; redness; itching.

How should I take Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. The effects of Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin) occur about 30 minutes after treatment, with the maximum effect seen at about 1 hour. Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin) may cause temporary blurred or unstable vision after use. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring clear vision. Some of these products contain sulfite preservatives that can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. Consult your health care provider. Be careful not to contaminate the cap by lying it down or touching the tip on anything. Do not stop taking Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin) without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Propine Eyedrops (dipivefrin). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription or dietary supplements medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and make your health care provider aware of the missed dose.
