Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) should be used under medical supervision as part of a comprehensive skin protection program, including use of sunscreen products and protective clothing. Excessive use of Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) should be avoided. Keep Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) away from the eyes, mouth, angles of the nose or mucous membranes. |

How should I take Renova (tretinoin/emmolient)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) is for external use only on the face. Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) should only be used in addition to a comprehensive skin care and sunlight avoidance program prepared by your doctor. Keep Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) away from the eyes, mouth, nose, and mucous membranes. Wash affected areas with a mild cleanser and dry skin gently. Wait 20 to 30 minutes to make sure that skin is completely dry. Squeeze a small amount (quarter inch or less) of Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) onto the fingertip. This should be enough to cover the entire affected area. Wash hands at once after use. In the morning, apply a moisturizing sunscreen. Upon application of Renova (tretinoin/emmolient), there may a feeling of warmth and slight stinging of the skin. It may take up to 6 months to see changes in facial skin. If you experience allergic reactions, chemical irritation, or systemic side effects to Renova (tretinoin/emmolient), stop using Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) and contact your doctor. Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) may cause sensitivity to sunlight and other forms of UV light (such as tanning beds). Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing over treated areas. Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) may cause an unusual sensitivity to wind and cold. Do not use Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) if you are taking other medicines that are known to cause sensitivity to light. If you are not sure if the other medicines you are taking cause sensitivity to light, talk with your doctor. Do not use other acne medications or strong soaps while using Renova (tretinoin/emmolient). Do not use Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Do not use Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) if you have sunburn, eczema, or other facial skin conditions. Do not use Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) if you are naturally sensitive to sunlight. Remove all cosmetics with a mild soap before applying Renova (tretinoin/emmolient). Do not take more medicine than is prescribed. Taking more medicine than prescribed may cause serious redness, peeling, or discomfort of the skin. Do not stop taking Renova (tretinoin/emmolient) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Renova (tretinoin/emmolient). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
