Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) is used to treat nasal allergy symptoms, including itching, runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing in adults and children.

Before using Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you and/or your child are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you and/or your child are taking prednisone or have previously been treated with steroids for a long period of time if you and/or your child have asthma if you and/or your child have recently experienced nasal septum ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma if you and/or your child have an untreated fungal, bacterial, or viral infection if you and/or your child have herpes infection near the eyes if you and/or your child have tuberculosis if you and/or your child have any other medical condition |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide)?

Full effect of Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) is not achieved until 2 to 3 days after starting the treatment. In rare cases the full effect of treatment with this medicne is not achieved until 2 weeks of treatment with this medicne. Treatment of seasonal rhinitis with Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) should, if possible, start before the exposure to allergens. |
What are the side effects of Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide)?

Most severe: Severe allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, and tongue); aggressive behavior; bizarre behavior; growth suppression in children; increased pressure in the eye; nasal septum disorders and perforation.

Most common: Nasal irritation and burning; sore throat; cough; nosebleed; dry mouth; indigestion.

How should I take Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide)?
|
How much medicine you use and how often you use it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) being used, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) and reread it each time you get this prescription filled. Shake Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) well before each use. Symptoms can start to improve as soon as 24 hours after you start taking Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide), and should improve within a few days. If symptoms do not improve by 3 weeks, or if the condition worsens, contact your health care provider. Nasal burning or irritation may occur after when Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) is used. Notify your health care provider if these side effects continue to occur. Gently blow your nose to clear your nostrils. Open the nasal inhaler pressing on the arrow and rotating until it clicks into the locked position. Place your thumb on the bottom of the unit (on the grid) while placing your index finger on the top of the canister. Wrap your fingers securely around the back. Press straight down on the canister to deliver a dose. Spray into the air 4 times before using for the first time. Close 1 nostril and insert the end of the inhaler tube into the other nostril. Hold your breath and deliver a dose. For optimum results, shake the canister between sprays. Rotate the unit closed for storage. If Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) is not used for 8 weeks, spray into the air 4 times before reusing. To clean, remove the aerosol container and wash the plastic parts regularly in warm (not hot) water with mild detergent if necessary. Allow the plastic parts to dry completely and then replace the container. If switching from an oral steroid medicine to an inhaled one, contact your health care provider at once if withdrawal symptoms (muscle and joint pain, exhaustion, depression) occur. Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles while taking/giving Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide). If exposed, contact your health care provider at once. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide). Do not use more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not stop taking Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) without talking with your health care provider. If you stop taking Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) when it is still needed, allergy symptoms will return for several days. Do not take/give any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and advise your health care provider or pharmacist at your next visit.

Store Rhinocort Aq Nasal Spray (budesonide) between 59 and 86 degrees F with the valve up. Avoid storing in areas with high humidity. Do not puncture. Contents are under pressure. Do not store near heat or open flame. Exposure to temperatures above 120 degrees F may cause canister to explode. |
