Do not take Ridaura (auranofin) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Ridaura (auranofin) you have a history of blood and bone marrow disorder you are experiencing inflammation and peeling of the skin you have scar tissue on the lungs you have serious bowel inflammation you are pregnant or breastfeeding |
What precautions should I follow when taking Ridaura (auranofin) ?

Before using Ridaura (auranofin), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like gatrintestinal disorders, impairment of kidney or liver functions, eye disease, mouth ulcers or skin conditions |

Ridaura (auranofin) contains gold, which can build up in the blood and become toxic. Discuss symptoms of this buildup with your doctor so you can report them if they occur. |
What are the side effects of Ridaura (auranofin)?

Most severe: Bleeding disorder; peeling skin, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and proteinuria..

|
Most common: Diarrhea; loose stools; inflammation of the skin; itching; inflammation of the mouth; abdominal pain; nausea; vomiting; constipation; inflammation of the eye; itching.

Other: Weight loss, elevated liver enzymes
|
How should I take Ridaura (auranofin)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Ridaura (auranofin) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Dosages above those recommended may increase the incidence of diarrhea. Do not stop taking Ridaura (auranofin) without checking with your doctor. Notify your doctor if blood in the urine, itching, rash, stomach pain or persistent diarrhea occurs. Lab tests will be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Ridaura (auranofin). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
