Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) is used for short-term relief of cold and flu symptoms, such as minor aches and pains, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, fever, cough, and stuffy nose. It is also used to help relieve chest congestion by loosening mucus in the lungs and making coughs more productive.

Do not take Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) or similar medications if you are taking MAO Inhibitors

Before using Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplements if you are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the last 14 days if you are currently taking certain medications for depression, Parkinson's disease, psychiatric or emotional conditions if you have heart disease if you have high blood pressure if you have an overactive thyroid if you have diabetes if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland if you consume 3 or more alcoholic beverages per day if you have any other medical condition

Do not use Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional condition, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you are uncertain whether your prescription drug contains an MAOI, consult a health care professional before taking Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan).

How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depend on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). Take Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) every 4 hours or as directed by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider if nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occurs while you are taking Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). Stop using Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) and contact your health care provider if flu and cold symptoms lasts for more than 7 days or if fever lasts for more than 3 days. Contact your doctor if sore throat is severe, lasts for more than 2 days, or is accompanied by or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting. Stop using Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) and contact your health care provider if new or unexpected symptoms occur, or if symptoms worsen or do not improve. If cough persists for more than 1 week, returns, or is accompanied by a fever, rash, or persistent headache, contact your health care provider. A cough that does not go away could be a sign of a serious condition. Do not use Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) for persistent or chronic cough that is due to smoking, or breathing problems, such as asthma, or emphysema, or if the cough produces excessive mucus unless directed by a health care provider. Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) may cause dizziness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Diabetes patients -- Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) may affect your blood sugar level. Your doctor may need to change the amount of diabetes medicine that you are taking while on Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). Stop taking MAO inhibitors at least 14 days before taking Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). If you are uncertain whether your other medications contain an MAO inhibitor, check with your health care provider. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). Do not use more medicine than recommended unless you are told to do so by your health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have taken too much of Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan). If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and contact your health care provider.

Store Robitussin Cold & Flu (dextromethorphan) between 68 and 77 degrees F.
